Question of the month: Can I also choose not to accrue pension with StiPP?
Every month we answer a question in this section. These are questions that are often asked to our customer service employees. This month's question is:
Can I also choose not to accrue pension with StiPP?
No, that is not possible. You accrue compulsory pension with StiPP. Even if you live or work in the Netherlands temporarily.
Why is that so?
Pension is a condition of employment. Employers' and employees' organisations have jointly drawn up rules on this subject that apply to everyone in the temporary employment and secondment sector. In this way, employers share the costs and risks. This also prevents competitive differences between companies when it comes to pensions.
Basic or Plus scheme?
From your first day of work, you immediately start accruing pension in the Basic Scheme. Have you worked 52 weeks and accrued pension in the Basic Scheme? Then you will accrue pension in the Plus Scheme. Log in to My StiPP Pension to see which scheme you are participating in.
More than just money for later
We understand that it may not always be fun to pay for something that seems a long way off. But pensions are not just about money for later. For example, it also concerns a benefit for your surviving dependants when you die.
