Pension is the income you receive when you stop working at your state pension age. In the Netherlands, your pension consists of three parts:
AOW: basic income from the government
The AOW (General Old Age Pensions Act) is a benefit from the government. You will receive this basic income from your state pension age. The state pension is based on 70% of the minimum wage. A supplementary pension scheme is therefore an important part of your income later on.
Pension through pension administrators
Do you work as an employee? Then you usually accrue supplementary pension with a pension provider (such as a pension fund) through your employer. You may have accrued pension with multiple pension providers.
Do you work in the temporary employment or secondment industry? Then you accrue pension with StiPP. On Pensioen 1-2-3 you can read what you will and will not receive within our pension scheme.

Pension that you arrange yourself
You can also accrue pension yourself. For example, by saving, investing or investing.
How do you know what pension you have accrued?
Every year between May and September, you will receive your pensioenoverzicht from us. It shows you how much you have accrued. Your current status? You will always find them on Mijn StiPP Pensioen.
How does the StiPP pension scheme work?
There are different types of pension schemes in the Netherlands. How your pension is accrued depends on the pension provider. The most common schemes are the Defined Benefit (DB) and the Defined Contribution (DC) scheme.
We only offer the DC control. That means:
- You build up your own pension capital
- We invest the premium for you
- You bear the investment risks individually
- On your retirement date, you buy a pension benefit with your pension capital
- The amount of your pension is only determined when you buy it
- You will receive this pension for the rest of your life
